The Reid McCarty Scholarship was established by the McCarty Family in honor of the late Reid M. McCarty, who passed away June 29, 2014. Reid earned both his B.S. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics (2004) and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry (2011) at the University of Arizona. Reid was a very productive researcher who earned many awards during his lifetime, including a Galileo Circle Award from the College of Science at the University of Arizona, and a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health.
The Reid McCarty Scholarship recognizes and honors a Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Graduate Student who has demonstrated the ability to carry out independent research in a scholarly and enthusiastic way.
